product details & benefits

Advanced Skin Lightening Serum is a potent skin lightening and brightening antioxidant serum formulated with 10% L-Ascorbic Acid USP (Vitamin C) and 2% Hydroquinone USP ideal for all skin types. It visibly corrects existing hyperpigmentation, including dark spots, age spots, sun damage, melasma, and post-inflammatory marks and prevents recurring hyperpigmentation by inhibiting the production of melanin in the skin.

  • Level 3 Brightening & Hyperpigmentation Correction
  • Level 2 Fine Line & Wrinkle Smoothing
  • Oil-free, alcohol-free & hypoallergenic

The pharmaceutical grade Vitamin C in this formula, L-Ascorbic Acid USP, is the purest, most potent, and bio-available form of Vitamin C available. Traditionally difficult to stabilize in formulations, this gold-standard ingredient is a cornerstone of Advanced Skin Lightening Serum, made possible by our exclusive IntraDermal System (IDS)®. This proprietary delivery system protects the Vitamin C and enhances penetration into all skin layers, with 2x more Vitamin C retention in the skin overall and 4x more in the dermis, while resisting oxidation to maintain maximum potency and consistent, visible results.

As Hydroquinone inhibits the production of melanin for powerful brightening benefits, its use is recommended in short-term treatments (up to 12 weeks) to prevent irritation, resistance, or adverse effects. To maintain results and avoid rebound hyperpigmentation we recommend Radiance Serum, our hydroquinone-free brightening serum, after a cycle of 12 weeks of Advanced Skin Lightening Serum in addition to ongoing protection from UV exposure with SPF 30+.

key ingredients

10% Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid USP)

The purest, most potent and bio-available form of Vitamin C provides powerful antioxidant protection, neutralizes free radicals, brightens the skin, stimulates collagen production and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

2% Hydroquinone USP

This Health Canada & FDA-approved gold standard ingredient for hyperpigmentation visibly brightens and lightens dark spots, age spots, sun damage, melasma and post-inflammatory marks at the cellular level by inhibiting tyrosinase, the enzyme needed to produce pigment (melanin).

Did you know?

Hydroquinone is a powerful skin-lightening ingredient commonly used in dermatology to fade hyperpigmentation, including dark spots, sun damage, melasma, and post-inflammatory marks. It functions by effectively inhibiting melanin production through the suppression of tyrosinase, an enzyme involved in pigment formation. Its use is recommended in short-term treatments (up to 12 weeks) to prevent irritation, resistance, or adverse effects. To maintain results and avoid rebound hyperpigmentation we recommend Radiance Serum, our hydroquinone-free brightening serum, after a cycle of 12 weeks of Advanced Skin Lightening Serum in addition to ongoing protection from UV exposure with SPF 30+.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a bottle of Advanced Skin Lightening Serum last?
With twice daily use of 2-3 drops per application, a bottle will last approximately 3-4 months. For maximum efficacy, we recommend the product be used within 6 months after opening.
It is important to note that due to the high level of pure and potent L-Ascorbic Acid USP in the formula, it is normal for the formula to yellow over time due to air and light exposure. This natural color change does not substantially affect the product's efficacy. Should your serum turn an orange/deep amber, it is best to replace the product. To maximize product shelf life, store your serum at room temperature and ensure the dropper cap is tightly sealed after each use.

Can Advanced Skin Lightening Serum be used with retinol?
Yes, Advanced Skin Lightening Serum is suitable to use within the same daily skincare routine as retinol.
Due to the fact that Advanced Skin Lightening Serum has a low pH and retinol is most effective at a higher pH we recommend using one of the following three strategies for maximum results:
1. Wait at least 30 minutes after applying Advanced Skin Lightening Serum before applying your Retinol
2. Use Advanced Skin Lightening Serum in the morning and Retinol in the evening
3. Use Advanced Skin Lightening Serum and Retinol on alternating evenings

Please consult your skincare provider with any questions.
When & how should I apply Advanced Skin Lightening Serum?
Advanced Skin Lightening Serum can be used both morning and night. For optimal results, apply twice daily as part of your skincare routine..
Although some prefer applying serums directly from the dropper, to prevent potential contamination, we recommend dispensing 2 to 3 drops of Advanced Skin Lightening Serum into your palm and using fingertips to apply a thin layer to face, neck, chest, and back of hands as desired. A general rule to follow when layering products is to apply them from thinnest to thickest texture.
How long does it take to start seeing results?
Many of our customers see and feel an improvement in their skin in as little as one use, however, individual outcomes may vary. Given the natural skin cycle is approximately 28 days long, when used consistently and as directed, customers tend to see significant, noticeable results in as little as 4 weeks. We recommend taking before and after pictures to assist in tracking progress.
What colour should Advanced Skin Lightening Serum be?
L-Ascorbic Acid USP (pure Vitamin C), the primary ingredient in Vivier’s Vitamin C serums, may gradually develop a light-yellow hue over time. This natural color change does not substantially affect the product's efficacy. Thanks to our propriety IDS delivery system which shields naturally unstable Vitamin C molecules from oxidation, our serums are known to maintain their clarity and efficacy longer than other Vitamin C serums on the market.
To further maximize the shelf life of your Advanced Skin Lightening Serum we recommend tightening the dropper securely after each use, storing your serum at room temperature, and using it within 6 months of opening to ensure optimal results. Should your serum turn an orange/deep amber, it is best to replace the product.
Is Advanced Skin Lightening Serum safe to use after professional procedures?
Yes, Advanced Skin Lightening Serum is suitable to use as soon as one day post non-ablative procedures. Always consult with a physician or provider for individualized post-procedure care.
